As part of the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail construction phase 2D, new traffic signals have been installed at the intersections of Peakham Road and Hudson Road as well as at North Road and Windmill Drive. These signals were activated to be fully operational on Monday, September 9. The traffic signals at Peakham and Hudson have been coordinated with the lights at Concord Road and Old Sudbury Road, and the resulting traffic patterns will be observed over the next 30 days to determine whether and what additional adjustments are needed.

UPDATE 9/19/24 Having recognized that the activation of the new traffic signals, in combination with the start of the school year, significantly impacted traffic patterns through Sudbury Center, Sudbury staff and residents reached out to MassDOT. Traffic engineers from MassDOT visited the site on Wednesday, September 18 and adjusted the timing in order to improve traffic flows. Further revisions may need to be completed by the contractor responsible for the installation of the traffic signals.

As the assessment proceeds, travel times for many Sudbury residents and commuters may be impacted. When issues arise, MassDOT relies primarily on public feedback. Please submit comments at https://www.mass.gov/forms/contact-massdot or by phone toll free at 877-623-6846 Monday – Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

We thank you for your patience as we work with MassDOT to enhance the safety of our roads for vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians.
