Assistant Aquatic Facility Director
Town of Sudbury

The Town of Sudbury (population approx. 18,000) is seeking a qualified and experienced Assistant Aquatic Director for the municipal owned and operated Atkinson Pool, a multi-use indoor aquatic facility. The Assistant Aquatic Director is under the direction of the Park, Recreation and Aquatics Director.

The Assistant Aquatic Director participates in the selection, training, evaluations, scheduling and supervision of subordinate personnel. Participates in hiring new lifeguards, swim instructors, and front-desk employees.  These responsibilities include:  ensuring all rescue and aquatic equipment are in good working order, promotes/publicizes programs and activities including writing news releases and program fliers, schedules all swim team rentals, lane scheduling and dive well time and swim meets, performs administrative duties including maintaining records and statistics, preparing reports, maintaining department files, etc.  Assists in developing policies and procedures for aquatic staff and preparing department budget; reporting payroll.  Organizes program calendar for staff and members, develop monthly work schedule for part-time and full-time aquatic staff, responsible for pool chemical ordering and locker room/bathroom supplies, ensures adequate training of staff in First Aid, CPR, Water Safety, Swimming and Teaching Skills, assist in development and editing of quarterly brochure, assist Park, Recreation, and Aquatic Director in the investigation of and reporting of all accidents, instruct classes or lifeguard as needed, performs similar or related work as required.

Candidates should possess excellent communication, supervisory, and organizational skills in addition to computer proficiency. Minimum qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree in Recreation or Physical Education with current certification as WSI, LGT, CPR-PR, FA, CPO, or AFO, plus two years’ experience in managing as an aquatic supervisor or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Position requires some evening, weekend, and holiday work.  The Town of Sudbury is a CAPRA Accredited Agency.  See full job description at https://sudbury.ma.us/HR .
