- Senior Legal Helpline – Volunteer Lawyers Project of Boston provides free legal information and referral services to Massachusetts residents who are 60 years old or older. Call (800) 342-5297.
- Womenβs Bar Association β Free legal assistance to victims of domestic violence and low-income seniors seeking end-of-life documents such as simple wills, health care proxies or powers of attorney.
Legal Support For Low-Income or Housing Insecure
- MetroWest Legal Services for Individuals with Low-Income β Includes legal services around housing, homelessness, public benefits, education, elder law, health care access, domestic violence, and immigration for victims of abuse.
- Metrowest Legal Clinic for Housing Concerns β Includes legal services for eviction defense, denial of subsidized housing, foreclosure; housing clinic for tenants facing eviction.
Legal Support for Survivors of Domestic Violence or Crimes
- Womenβs Bar Association β Free legal assistance to victims of domestic violence and low-income seniors seeking end-of-life documents such as simple wills, health care proxies or powers of attorney.
- MA Civil Legal Aid for Victims of Crime β Legal help if you have been the victim of or survivor of a crime and are dealing with a legal issue (e.g. divorce, bankruptcy, child support) because of it.
General Legal Resources
- Massachusetts Legal Resource Finder β Answer questions about your legal situation and be directed to relevant resources and services. The programs listed are exclusively nonprofits.
- Mass Legal Answers Online β Directly ask an attorney legal questions (up to 3 per year). For people with low-income and low savings, who are not incarcerated or charged with a crime, and who do not already have a lawyer.
- MassBar Dial-a-Lawyer β Free legal assistance on the first Wednesday of every month. Call (617) 338-0610 or (877) 686-0711 on the first Wednesday of the month between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. There is no limit to the number of calls you can make, or how many times you call during the year.
- Court Service Centers β Legal information and support completing court forms for probate and family court (in-person and remote).
- Chat with a Law Librarian – Text your concrete question to (866) 885-6277. Available Monday-Friday 9 a.m. -4 p.m, chat online here, or use Zoom video chat on Thursdays between 1pm-2pm.
